The VP Records series "Reggae Anthology" is a wide-ranging series of comprehensive compilations exploring the last three decades of recorded Jamaican music. Each volume of the Reggae Anthology contains a four-color, 12-16-page booklet with unique, historical photographs, rare original artwork, informative liner-notes by a noted reggae writer, and a comprehensive track listing.
Certified Dancehall legend Yellowman (real name Winston Foster) gets his due in Reggae Anthology: Look How Me Sexy – Yellowman’s Greatest Hits, which documents the global impact of Jamaica’s first superstar deejay, the Jamaican term for rapper. An albino who overcame extreme poverty and prejudice, Yellowman was one of reggae music’s most important pioneers both in Jamaica and in the United States. In the process, he changed the direction of Jamaican music and became an important influence on the originators of rap music in America.
The 21 track cd gives you a near perfect cross section of the 'best' of the Jamaican albino deejay superstar. He cut his best sides for producer Henry Junjo Lawes -twelve 'Junjo' produced sides are available here. His (underrated) work for producer Lloyd Campbell is also well documented here; check out Mad Over Me and the spin off called Shorties, two deadly boomshot tunes. As I said before this album is a near perfect cross section of the 'best' of Yellowman, because the compilation includes just one piece produced by Jojo HooKim from the Channel One/Hitbound imprint.
