Desmond Dekker :
Born Desmond Dacres, 1942, Kingston, Jamaica, Desmond Dekker started his career in 1963 with cuts for Leslie Kong. He teamed up with The Aces, and together they had a string of number 1 hits. International hit status came with the 1969 released 'Isrealites'. In the 70s his career declined, but he re-emerged during the UK ska revival in 1980. Although he never regained his earlier prominence, he stays a well respected figure, especially in the UK.
